The University of Kansas (KU) is a public research university located in Lawrence, Kansas. Established in 1865, KU is the largest university in the state of Kansas and is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), a prestigious organization that includes the top research universities in the United States. KU offers over 345 undergraduate and graduate degree programs through its 15 schools and colleges and is classified as a Carnegie Research University (high research activity). The university is known for the high quality of its academic programs, reasonable cost, strong athletic programs, and the natural beauty of its campus. With a population of 28,500 students, including more than 2,000 international students, students will find diverse academic, cultural and recreational opportunities in a welcoming community.
