LANGUAGE TEST CERTIFICATE REQUIRED? IF SO, WHICH AND WHEN: BEFORE ADMISSION OR UPON ARRIVAL?
Some proof of English language proficiency at the level B2 – TOEFL or IELTS – before arrival is required if English is not student's mother tongue. Alternatively, in the recommendation letter the student's tutor should confirm the student is able to understand and participate in lessons given in English. See description of B2 language proficiency.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL ADVISING OR REGISTRATION CONCERNS THAT STUDENTS SHOULD BE AWARE OF? ARE SERVICES AVAILABLE TO ASSIST IN REGISTRATION OR COURSE SELECTION?
There is a faculty coordinator at each faculty who helps students to create a study plan (workload). Students should pick up courses from 1 faculty only, because the university has no central campus, but university buildings are spread all around the city.

Welcome Week is mandatory, it starts 1 week before the semester (2nd or 3rd week of September or 2nd or 3rd week in February). Free of charge.

Euro 17 for ISIC card (e.g. ISIC means 50% discount on public transport; student needs to buy Slovak ISIC where dormitory address is specified).
Medical check (mandatory by law): around Euro 200, after the temporary residence permit is issued
IS COMPARABLE HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FROM ABROAD ALLOWED?
Yes. Travel medical insurance covering all costs that may arise during stay in Slovakia in connection with any urgent medical care and/or emergency treatment in the hospital including potential medical repatriation or death. Minimum insurance coverage: Eur 30.000.
HOUSING AND STUDENT LIFE
IS HOUSING ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE? IS IT GUARANTEED? HOW DO STUDENTS APPLY?
Yes. Housing is guaranteed for all international students.
Dormitory Druzba (only for students of Medicine, Law, Natural Sciences)
Housing fee for the full period of stay (5 months or 10 months) needs to be paid in cash on the day of arrival to the dormitory.

One of the most important documents needed for the application for a temporary residence permit in Slovakia is a criminal record from responsible home institution. Student needs to have this document before (s)he enters Slovakia. This document as well as others, needs to be officially translated/apostilled – please ask at Slovak Embassy for further details.
