Comenius University in Bratislava

You are invited to join the Comenius University family of about 30,000 students. Most of the Departments are in Bratislava, in the "three capitals triangle" (Vienna 60km and Budapest 200km). CU is the oldest and largest university in the Slovak Republic. It was founded in 1919 and follows the traditions of one of the first Universities in Europe the Academia Istropolitana, which was established in Bratislava by the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus in 1465.

The Comenius University is an internationally recognized center of study and research. It is a distinguished scientific institution. At the University there are several scientific institutes and departments with an international acceptance.

Bratislava is at the center of Europe. Vienna, with its large international airport, is only 60 kilometers away; Budapest is 200 km to the southeast; and Prague just 300km to the northwest. All of these cities are connected to Bratislava by regular international express trains. The city's multi-ethnic cultural scene is a product of various influences: German, Slovak, Hungarian, and Jewish, among others. Bratislava boasts numerous theatres, museums, galleries, concert halls, cinemas, film clubs, and foreign cultural institutions. It also has the country's biggest football (soccer) and ice hockey teams, a purpose-built white-water rafting center on the Danube, and numerous walking and cycling trails in or near the city. Bratislava has numerous coffee shops and restaurants, offering international as well as Slovak cuisine, as well as lively bars and clubs.
